My Nia Story
Susan L. Cohen
Nia has given to me the gift of learning and knowing who I am, beautifully and powerfully freeing my body, mind, and spirit to become myself fully and transform my life. Nia has given to me the attitude of Joy, which has deeply entered my soul, and given me an opportunity to become and feel fully alive.**
Nia has had a great impact on my life, and has transformed my inner self more than any other experience during the course of my life; both Nia and my Tony Robbins’ experiences have invaded my soul in this way. However, my beginning Nia classes allowed me to become aware of “not letting go of my body or allowing it to loosen and dance.” I became aware that I wasn’t comfortable with letting go, therefore not completely comfortable with myself. After 2 months of Nia classes, I found myself “letting go and dancing, steadily on the path towards self-discovery; feeling a transformation which was both profoundly powerful and empowering, BOTH IN CLASS AND OUT OF CLASS.
Nia became my “sacred time” where I could experience the Joy of myself and of life itself, and be truly an individual, separate from any responsibilities. I felt a re-birthing experience, as I connected to and honored the person that I am.
Nia has taught me to continue to grow by feeling physical sensations in my body, as well as feeling primal, free, and confident about my body and femininity. This is an ongoing process, one that I am eternally grateful for.
Is it possible for a fitness class to all of this? You can find out for yourself, and possibly enjoy the element of fun and having a blast that Nia brings to a fitness class through its principles and the power of movement!
To me, Nia IS being fully alive. It is this feeling and attitude that I now base my life-long beliefs upon, discovering these through Nia, “The Joy of Movement,” as I metaphorically dance through life.** |
